Memories Scrapbooking Expo 2013 - Meeting Tim Holtz

This Friday I made the annual pilgrimage down to Columbus Ohio with some of my best scrapbooking friends to attend the Memories Scrapbooking Expo. We go every year and always enjoy seeing what goodies everyone has for sale. This year was especially exciting because several days prior to leaving for the Expo we heard Tim Holtz was going to be there. He has been our inspiration for a while now and we own a lot of his products. When we got to the Stampers Anonymous booth Tim was already in the middle of a demo so we decided to stand and listen in. We learned so much from his demos and walked away truly inspired!

A year or so ago I became very into SMASH books, I love how relaxing it is! This January I started a SMASH book that I am calling "My Goals of 2013". Each page has a goal I have set for myself for 2013. One of my goals this year was to meet Tim Holtz so after the expo I couldn't wait to get home and start working on the page.

I pulled a lot of great goodies out of my bag to use on this layout, such as the ticket that Tim signed for me, his signature that I cut out of the product that I bought at the expo, the post card from the Stampers Anonymous booth, and the metal paper from Tim's demo.

"Use Your Stash" Challenge Week 1

Mandy's "Use Your Stash" Challenge Week #1 Project

Items used from my stash:
Stella Paper Collection from Close to my Heart
Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge from Close to my Heart
Just for You Stamp set from Close to my Heart

Tonight I was inspired by a crafty friend of mine, Jayma Malme from http://jaymamalme.blogspot.com/

Jayma did a video on a Close to my Heart card she made with a few very simple supplies and a cool stamp set that I have had for a while and have been meaning to play with. So I decided to challenge myself and make this my week #1 project and see if I could duplicate her card and have it look half way decent. To my surprise it was actually really easy to do, only took me maybe 5 minutes.

For information on the supplies I used in this card please check out my other blog at:

You are also always welcome to send me an email with any questions you may have :)

The Scrappykins "Use Your Stash" Weekly Challenge!

So we here at Scrappykins are getting ready for a yard sale next weekend where we will be selling a lot of our scrapbook supplies we never use. As I was talking to one of my friends tonight, I caught myself saying "It's a shame I have so many great supplies and never use them!" So that is what sparked me to announce a new weekly challenge. What we are challenging you to do is to use 3 supplies from your stash on a project once week. The supplies can be anything like paper, embellishments or tools you haven't gotten around to using in a while. We basically want to see how creative you can get with your supplies that you haven't touched in a while.

When you complete your project email us a photo and a list of the supplies you used up from you stash on the project. At the end of the week we will post the photo of our favorite project and who made it. At the end of the month we will do a drawing where the winner will receive a cool prize.

The winner at the end of the month will also receive this cool blinkie to add to their own blog:

We here at Scrappykins will also be posting our weekly projects to keep everyone inspired.

Good luck everyone and we cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Cricut Cartridge Storage Solution!

Just finished putting together several of our Cricut Cartridge Storage Boxes. I have a limited quantity available. The cartridges DO NOT come with the box; they are in the photo merely to give you an idea of what it looks like with the cartridges in it. I LOVE my box and it makes taking all my cartridges to crops a whole lot easier! Each box can hold around 72 cartridges and comes with:
  • the box
  • the clear plastic dividers
  • all the Velcro you will need
  • and I even added some extra dividers and Velcro pieces

I am asking $30 for each box. Just imagine how much space this box will save for you in your scrap space!

To any of you who are planning on coming to our yard sale next weekend (SO excited for it...there is going to be ALOT of awesome scrapbook deals there....send me an email for the address if you are interested in coming) and would like one or more of these boxes you are welcome to pick them up at the yard sale and avoid having to pay shipping. Also, for an additional $5 I can print all your labels for you and you can pick them up with your box. To anyone wanting to have one shipped I could of course ship the labels for the same $5 + shipping. The box doesn't weight a lot.....very light weight and space saving.

I only have a small quantity available right now so be sure to snatch one up before they are gone!

Time for another giveaway!

We think it is about time for another giveaway! This one is going to be a slightly different type of giveaway than our last one! We are calling this one a "referral giveaway". We are hoping to reach 100 followers by the end of the month. In order to achieve this we are going to give a great prize away to the follower that refers the most people to become a new follower.

So here is how it will work:
When you refer someone to become a follower of our blog have them make a comment on this post and mention your name and that you referred them. In order for it to count in your referrals total they not only have to make a comment on this post but also become a follower. But that is all you have to do!

We are giving away a very cool prize with this giveaway. We decided to give away one of our favorite tools here at Scrappykins, a set of our Distress Ink color swatch tag sets.

If we reach 100 followers by the end of the month we will throw in another surprise in with the color swatch tags.

Good luck everyone!
